BusinessOptix is excited to announce its first formal product update using our new knowledge base. This "Autumn" update allows us to inform you of some exciting features (some of which discerning users may have already spotted) and announce several new and useful features we will be releasing or making available in the coming weeks. Those eagle-eyed users amongst you will notice the change from 6.1 to 6.5 in key areas (such as Author) in the coming days but the impact should be limited to that while we roll-out and manage updates to individual libraries.
We will break these features up into the core areas of the BusinessOptix platform and the value-added services that we bring our user base.
Knowledge Base and On-boarding
The delivery and support teams at BusinessOptix have been challenged with the tasks of improving the way we support, train and inform our customers not only how to use the product but also to solve problems and learn of all that the platform has to offer. To that end, we have developed a platform of services that we have already started using to engage with our customers.
- Support Portal: Let us help you...
- helpme@businessoptix.com
- And look out for the Widget:
- Knowledge Base: Help yourself...
- All your FAQ's, Knowledge and Resources together with System Status, on-boarding materials and a growing Community (including Feature Requests).
- Webinars: Regular facilitated sessions and Q&A...
The Web Author
The BusinessOptix Web Author has certainly reached maturity in the past year and we are working hard to keep adding value, richness and ease of use to the way authors can create various forms of content. In addition to several new forms of modelling, further BPMN 2.0 support and powerful new extensions, we have brought to the author several new tools:
- Spellcheck: Speaks for itself...
- Sub-process: Diagram too complex and ungainly? Break your models up into sensible more easily navigated chunks...
- Extract diagram: Have a process in your model you want in a model of its own, easy...
- Multi-language: We've implemented the ability for you to model in your own language...
- Variants: Does your process have variations of certain sub-processes, cater for this now based on Location, Product (whatever Master Data or attribute suits you)...
Library (including outputs, reports and dashboards)
The BusinessOptix library is the portal through which BusinessOptix users are used to gaining access to their content via the various output options and our reports and dashboards. The more data and information modelled into your library, the more powerful the library is in terms of, firstly delivering useful information (work instructions) to help your business users with the execution of their day to day tasks, and secondly allowing the business to identify opportunities for improvement and drive the transformations for their business operations.
- New home page AKA the 'Magic Portal': How about, all you need is your Processes, there RACI and your Organisational Chart (other Master Data such as Systems, Functions, Locations can only make life easier) to present useful and relevant (and flagged/escalated, Mr Compliance?) processes and work instructions to your users. This can include video guides and links to the systems used to drive your business...
- Role-based Views: Let your users focus on the tasks and activities that they are responsible for...
- Context: Process Hierarchy and contextual awareness, automated...
- Immersion: For any Master Data, what else is relevant, what else am I responsible, what other activities are relevant?
- Requirements Gathering: Together with our forms, gather requirements on the fly in different ways (including the tabular form below), integrated with tools (such as JIRA) and report/dashboard...
Workflow
The BusinessOptix workflow has become a powerful tool to help organisations drive governance around their models and documentation. As regular users will know, the feature allows you to build custom workflows to collaborate, review, approve and publish content (in addition to the standard offerings). We've recently worked hard to add several useful features and improve the performance of the workflow.
- Verify in the workflow: Run an automated Verify before allowing a workflow to proceed, quality...
- Execution time: The workflow now moves so fast...
General
In our continuous endeavours to improve the quality of service that platform delivers, incorporating efficiency (simplicity), stability and security, we have two exciting announcements to make with several more on the way in this area.
- Multi-factor: Want that extra layer of security for standard BusinessOptix users (non-SSO), ask us to introduce you to Multi-Factor Authentication (powered by Microsoft Azure)...
- Azure: We have formally started welcoming new clients onto our Azure hosted platform, we will be communicating extensively in the coming months to inform existing customers of how we plan to provide them with the same service.
- Whats New: While not strictly a new feature we have been, for some time now, publishing release notes via the What's New link in each library. Supported by more and more communication and content in this portal our users can now keep themselves constantly up to date with how BusinessOptix is developing.
Desktop Author: Planned EOL
In the coming months, we will be approaching any users who still utilise the Desktop Author to plan and assist with their transition to the Web Author. We plan to formally end support for the Desktop Author early in 2018.
