September 2025 Release Guide
This update brings back some functionality in the rich text editor in Author and also includes improvements and bug fixes to enhance overall performance. The changes include the following areas of functionality.
Image Alignment
When you have an image that you have resized you now have more control of the alignment and the surrounding text.
The first two alignment options are for left and right alignment of the image, and any text will then fit in available space to the left or right of the image. The third through fifth alignment options are for block alignment. In this the image will be aligned left, center or right, but will take the whole row and any previous or subsequent text will not fit into the available space to the left or right of the image.
When viewing the output of content depending on the alignment selected some of the image was sometimes not visible. This has been corrected. A library update is required.
Editing Links
Whilst in most cases you want a hyperlink to open in the same tab as currently being viewed, we hadn't provided the option to edit the link target. We've added that back in. Once the link is created, click on it and you'll be able to change the link, change the target and remove the link.
Additional Changes to Author
Right click previously available when editing rich text is no longer an available option. Where this was previously used to create a custom paste function, this is now supported by using the default browser paste functionality on right click. Image formatting is now available from a menu that displays when you hover over the image. If you had a list (bullets or numbered list) a right click allowed you to change the formatting. The list menu items now support changing the formatting.
When editing a table you can now set the width of each column, by clicking on the column and dragging it to the appropriate size.
When switching back and forwards between editing many rich text properties there was a noticeable delay on opening different trays. This has been changed.
When opening a revision read-only some buttons were incorrectly disabled or enabled. This has been changed.
When editing the second or additional language of component the rich text editor was not loading correctly. This has been corrected.
When editing rich text in the HTML source view, if you switched away from the property without first switching back to rich text view the changes were then copied to the next editing session. This has been corrected.
When content is copied from Word we have enhanced the paste functionality to provide cleaner html.
When a single tray for a component has multiple rich-text properties the rich text editor did not open correctly. This only occurred in a small number of client specific configurations, and has been corrected.
Tooltips sometimes displayed to the left of the label and sometimes over a property label. This has been changed so that they consistently display to the left of the label. They can also be dismissed by hitting <esc> and disabled from the Options toolbar.
When a process model has a custom configuration for step size the automatic addition of steps algorithm did not take step size into account when deciding the spacing between steps. This has been included.
